Kimpton Hotels.

Whenever possible I will be staying at Kimpton Hotels. Well I say this before I've actually stayed at one, but if the stay is anything like the customer service I received yesterday when changing my reservation, it will be top of the line.

Here's what happened...

Southwest Airlines (another favorite company of mine for their awesome customer service...and wine..but that's another post) sent the standard "Your Trip is Just Around the Corner" email to me yesterday for my upcoming trip (TO CELEBRATE MY BIRTHDAY) to San Diego. I emailed my boyfriend to make sure he got his, and he asked, "Why are we only going for two nights?" Well first of all, GREAT question, second I have no clue! I have off the Friday we are leaving so why not take only one little day off and stay another day? Genius!

Oh and the different flight out there was CHEAPER than the one originally booked. #winning.

Anyway, I called Hotel Solamar in the Gas Lamp District of San Diego to see if they could alter the reservation without incurring a huge expense. Well the first guy I spoke with, who was very nice, typed it into his little reservations programmed computer, and not only would it be a more expensive rate for the additional night, it would actually bump the other nights up as well. Say what?!?!?! So he tried a few tricks to get around the increase, but never figured it out. He agreed with me that this was ridiculous and gave me a different number (of someone more Senior than himself I guess) to call when I decided what I wanted to do.

I called that number and the lady laughed at the story of what just happened. She typed in the dates I wanted in San Diego and not only found a cheaper rate for the additional night, but I got a cheaper rate for ALL THREE NIGHTS. Amazing!

So now I will be off to San Diego for three nights to celebrate my 27th birthday. And I will be staying all three nights--at a great rate-- at Hotel Solamar, a Kimpton Hotel.

I'll give my officially recommendation of this property and chain as soon as I actually go and try the place out! Hopefully it will be as lovely as their employees.

xoxo Sara Marie
