...including me, ha. Just kidding, well sort of. I had a softball game at 7pm last night, and despite thinking about bailing to watch the debate, I did not. More on that in a minute.
The debate... I watched a little over half when I got home. This was the text I sent my sister, "It seems Governor Perry started rocky, then kept quiet, and ended well. Newt is shinning and Cain and Romney sounded like jerks when they got caddy with the moderators a little. Bachmann and Huntsman and Santorum all barely spoke, or maybe I just didn't pay attention when they did; and as always, Ron Paul is just an angry grandpa."
I think that sums it up. I'll watch the rest tonight, mostly because I heard Governor Perry's closing was really strong. We will see, I sure hope so.
Now I learned a really awesome lesson last night. It's not anything ground-breaking, but I just had one of those "light bulb" moments. In short it was that politics don't matter. Or any kind of work, or larger concept you can't really control.
This is how it happened and an explanation of what I mean....
I got to my softball game and I was attached to my blackberry as usual. I was constantly refreshing my Twitter page and reading all the bad comments about Governor Perry and his shaky start at the debate. I was getting frustrated not watching and reading all the BS. Then my teammates all told me to put the damn phone down and have some fun. So I did. And we won. I had two hits and a few outs in center field. Then when the game was over, instead of rushing home to watch the debate, I went to dinner with my family. It too was awesome.
I got home and watched part of the debate. Not only was it not as bad as the Twitter feed made it out to be, but even when it did suck, my life didn't...my Tuesday didn't. And I fell asleep satisfied with my day.
So while I love obsessing over the little details of the presidential race, they don't really matter- not to my immediate happiness anyway. And I'll try and keep that in mind for the next 13 months.
xoxo Sara Marie
