That was my first I thought when I woke up this morning... at 7AM. Why? Because it hurt to think that just 3 hours after I went to sleep, I was waking up to go to work.
Why was I up until 4-something in the morning? Duh I was swimming at a friend's wedding.
A wedding? swimming? on a Wednesday?
Yes. Yes. and Yes.
Here's the story:
My boyfriend's good friend got married yesterday. The ceremony, reception, and after party were all held at a gorgeous venue over in West Austin. The ceremony started at 630pm and was officiated by the groom's ADORABLE grandfather... picture a small, old man that you just want put in your pocket and carry around for when you need a solid piece of wisdom or dose of reality. He included in the 15 minute ceremony the lesson of men putting their wife ahead of all others in his life. I think all the girls, and especially the bride's father, appreciated this part. My favorite is the "With this ring, I thee wed..." I’m not sure why... maybe because it is so official then, or because it has the word "thee." That makes it magical to me or something.
Anyway after the short ceremony everyone headed over to the pool area for the cocktail hour. That was followed by Salt Lick for dinner and a really fabulous Best Man speech!
The dancing carried everyone right to the end of the night and beginning of the after party. That was complete with swimming with the bride and groom and a 3am drive home to get a little bit of sleep before heading to work.
I'd say you can qualify a wedding as a monster success when you return home in your bathing suit at 3am.
Coming to work was not as exciting as my evening, but after a lunch at Hopdoddy's on South Congress (again) I'm feeling much better about making until 5pm when I can go home and nap.
Tonight I'm making my return to the softball field. And I can promise everyone that I will not get hurt. How? Well easy, even if I do injure myself (again) I am keeping my mouth shut so no one (and it could be a range of people really) can tell me "told ya so."
3 hours until naptime....
xoxo Sara Marie
