Maudies, and Another Debate.

Last night was pretty EPIC in my life. Ok maybe that's a little much, but I had dinner at my favorite place in Austin and watched Governor Perry on his path to the White House in another GOP debate. That's a pretty fantastic combination if you are Sara Marie.

I'll start with Maudies. It's an Austin institution. I had the veggie nachos, (they are not on the menu any longer, but you can still ask for them) they are the best nachos ever. Big, crispy chips with beans and cheese and peppers and onions and now my mouth is watering.

That coupled with a Skinny Margarita is just about the best meal one can have. But what is so great about Maudies is unlike most places I go, I can order just about anything on the menu. I am a creature of habit when it comes to my normal dinner spots. I get Tacos al Carbon at Matts El Rancho, Grilled Chicken with Squash and a salad at Threadgills, Brisket Sandwich at Salt Lick, etc. I very rarely stray from my standard meal choice at my normal rotation spots...except at Maudies. While the veggie nachos are spectacular, if I'm wanting a little meat there is literally an arsenal of other meals that would be just as delicious.

And after Maudies but before the debate, my new temporary roomie, Lauren, and I caught a nice sunset on the top of my building.

Then there was the debate. It was a lot of the same. I think the whole night can be summed up by the answer to one question.... the question... Who would you pic for Vice President if you had to choose someone from this stage... the answers...

Gary Johnson: Ron Paul... duh, both extreme.

Santorum: Newt... good answer but the safe answer too...this guy is just terribly unelectable

Newt: uh i can't remember... oh he didn’t choose. I think it is to keep the attacks away. As long as he remains the teddy bear on stage, keeps it substantive when he speaks, he avoids any attack. An attack, he could not handle with his numbers teetering between dropout, and make waves.

Grandpa Ron: Didn't choose anyone either... not shocking...this man hates everyone....

Perry: Had the best answer, duh... he wanted to "mate up Cain and Newt" this is not just hilarious but also brilliant.

Romney: safe, stupid answer... anyone.

Bachmann: didn't choose, who even cares.

Cain: anyone that would pick his 9-9-9 plan... too bad that will never happen.

So that’s it...pretty standard. I don't think these debates are doing anything other than distancing Romney and Perry further away from "the others." These debates make me crazy for a solid two hours and delay me seeing Jersey Shore (still on my dvr so don't tell me what happens) I get all wrapped up and yell at my TV and computer.

Luckily we are done with the 4 debates in like 20 days and have a while until the next one. I'll be caught up on my fist-pumping viewing and ready for another round, but the weeks between now and then will be greatly appreciated.

Happy Weekend yall!

xoxo Sara Marie
