Ok folks... there is some good news and really bad news.
The bad news is Tam Tam is a little sick. Apparently, the vet noticed some bleeding and discomfort when examining her. Luckily this vet, who we will call Jessica--because that is in fact her name-- has a heart of gold. She is running all the tests she possibly can to determine what's wrong. It could just be from Tick Fever, because Tams did have a tick on her, but this wouldn't be the worst case scenario. That would be cancer. Unfortunately there is nothing they can do for puppies in Costa Rica for cancer. Now, Jessica was quick to assure Doc that it very well could be something much less serious than cancer, but wanted her to know now there isn't a treatment option if it is.
The bad news continues with the shipping options. So far the quotes researched have been from 800-3500 bucks. That is outrageous, especially considering Doc has already spent upwards of 1,000 dollars. (Jefe if you are reading this that number is really a lot smaller, I...uh...promise) Doc could get round trip airfare (not on American Airlines after Ivan the Terrible, but maybe Delta or Continental) for less than those options.
The good news is that Jessica is in complete control. She is doing everything she can to figure out the health of Tammy. If it is anything treatable, she will do it. And Tammy is pretty happy and well taken care of with friends to play with. It's a much better situation than that scavenger, car dodging life she lived before Doc rescued her.
So the plan now is to wait and get the assessment of Tammy's health complete and then move forward again with shipping her or bringing her to Texas. I will throw this out there: if you or anyone you know is traveling to Costa Rica in the next few weeks/months and want a four legged companion on the way back, LET ME KNOW ASAP...Muchas Gracias.
xoxo Sara Marie
