The Story Continues...

Well I’m back at my condo in Austin. Nothing too dramatic happened on that last flight, but McGruber and I did get a free vodka and orange juice. We figured if we started the last day of vacation with one, we may as well end it that way. And then the flight attendant said it was on her. #winning.

But that is not where the story ends. There is still Tammy the Tico dog to figure out. Last time we saw her she was running Doc easily over 500 bucks, and sitting in her crate on the sidewalk at the Liberia airport while a taxi driver hung out with her until the vet from Santa Cruz, Costa Rica got there to house her for a few days.

Doc , and everyone for that matter, was nervous. Nervous that the vet may never show and the driver would let the dog loose and sell the crate for some quick cash. Or maybe the vet would take the dog and let her go, or give her away, or keep her but still not care for her well. There were a number of worst case scenarios that were certainly more possible than the best case…and we weren’t really sure what the best case scenario even was at this point…. Until it happened…

When we got off the plane in Dallas Doc had an email from the vet… she said not only did she have the dog, but she loved her, and so did her other dogs. She mentioned that she loved the color we picked for her toenails that Doc painted earlier in the week, and couldn’t wait to take Tam Tam and her other pups to the beach today. Finally, she mentioned that because her home internet sucked, she may not be in touch until Monday, but not to worry because Tammy would be cared for as one of her own. And first thing Monday they would start figuring out the best plan to get Tammy to America!

Basically Doc’s soul sister now has the dog, and will not only take very good care of her until she can be shipped to the states, but might even change her pedicure once or twice before doing so…

And until Tammy returns, at which time we are obviously planning a welcome home party, the story is on hold. If any updates occur, as I’m sure they will, I’ll let ya know, but for now, it’s time to unpack and return to reality.

  1. Well done Smookems! I am researching ways to ship Tam Tam home but it all looks outrageous. Thus far I have completed approximately 2 billion poochie travel bid pages... UPS, DHL nor FedEx are in the mammal shipping biz... Which means we are looking at another $500.00- 1200.00 in expenses... Know of anyone that’s in need of a kidney? Looks like it will totally be cheaper for me to fly back in October and check her as baggage! Wahoo! Now who’s along for the ride?- DOC
