I am. I agree with Vince Lombardi (a Fordham University alumni and coach)...
"Some say football is a matter of life and death, but I assure you, it's much more important than that."
I love football. In this order are my teams: NFL-- Cowboys, Browns, Jaguars..... and College-- Texas and Fordham tie for first, and that's all I really root for.
Now I will pick a team for every game I watch, and that decision is solely based on which team's quarterback or coach I like more, how the outcome of the game affects my teams listed above, and/or how much I dislike a player, or players, on either team. All very objective stuff obviously.
I have stopped doing fantasy football leagues because it hinders my ability to cheer for teams I like, or against teams I hate, depending on which players I have. And, I'll be honest, my sister, Emily, is a huge fantasy football player, and I pretty much want to rip her head off when she is cheering for some random wide receiver against my Cowboys during Thanksgiving dinner. Fortunately, the Boys are 7-3 in the last 10 years on this family holiday, so I've managed to stay out of a jail cell.
It's not looking too great for the Horns, but the Rams, Brownies, Jags, and even the Boys look like they could have a good year. I'm hoping for winning seasons from all, and playoffs for, at the least, the Jags and Boys.
So here's to another rollercoaster season. May my heart not get broken by Tony Romo for the millionth time (I was there last year when Romo went down), may we not freeze to death during a Brownies game in Cleveland (I was at the White Out game of 2007), may the Jags not have to depend on the Colts losing to get to the playoffs, and may the Rams and Horns both just win more than they lose.
And until then, Go Yankees.
