My mama has two sisters, Trish and Meri. We call Trish, "Bobbie." I would say I have no clue why, except I do know why. My sister was a strange little girl, and just made up names for people when she couldn't say their real name. Trish was apparently too difficult, so "Bobbie" it was. (Really Emily was a genius, but whatever.)
Anyway, Meri and Bobbie are both super fun. The two things that immediately come to mind when I think of either are Vegas and laughing.

See Meri and Bobbie have an exclusive club called the D-Tour. It's a group of women, by invite only, that get together and go to Vegas once a year. For my induction to the group, they hosted my 21st birthday party in Atlantic City, and well, let's just say it was a monumental success. And while I don't get to go to Vegas every time they go, I do so as often as possible, and it is never a bad decision. The last trip was titled "Devil Went Down to Vegas." It started with Bobbie saving a man's life on the flight out there, kept the energy up with trip down the Strip in a double-decker bus with a Barry Manilow look-a-like, and zip-lining across Bootleg Canyon (as seen on Real World Vegas.) I'll leave out the details, especially on the Manilow adventure, to protect the innocent.
I think it's pretty obvious why laughing is the second thing that comes to mind when I think of either of my outrageous aunties. It's pretty much all we do when we get together. They make holidays fun obviously, but it is the difficult times when they really come through.
When my grandfather died it was a terrible time. He had been sick for a while, and it was draining on the entire family. He was a larger than life type of man who had one hell of a life including being daddy to 4 kids, serving in the Air Force and Secret Service, and having 10+ grandchildren before he passed away. The day of his full honors, military funeral at the Houston National Cemetery was beyond sad, but my aunts came through for everyone. We went to a big lunch after the service, and by the time the lunch ended, we were all telling the greatest stories of our grandfather, and had my Mema laughing so hard, she was crying happy tears.
That's just who they are; the greatest family anyone could be blessed with. So happy, happy birthday to Bobbie today, and Meri in a little over a month from now.
Bobbie is on the Left and Meri on the Right... <3 yall!
xoxo Sara Marie
