I mean.....

So I've wanted to start a blog for a while. Every day, several times a day, I read blogs. I get a lot of my daily news this way (www.drudgereport.com, www.thefix.com, political blogs on statesman.com, etc). But even more so, I form my opinions this way. From deciding if I like Kim Kardashian's engagement ring (and I DO NOT) on TMZ's site to which 2012 presidential candidate is cranking out the best campaign videos (Pawlenty, though he is not my first choice)..... And from finding new recipes on foodie blogs like Everyday Ellis to getting the latest in sports on Deadspin, I LOVE BLOGS, and I get a lot out them.

Recently my college roommate started a blog, a book review site. (http://www.bookingitonthen.blogspot.com/) Her blog is really great... it's simple, entertaining, and very informative. And while she is a far better writer than I could ever be, she inspired me to take this leap and start my own.

I'm not positive what direction this blog will take. I don't really care at this point. I have no set agenda. Not to be dismissive, I just can't say, right now, that this is where you will get all the latest breaking news in Texas politics, or that you laugh until you cry with every post. I can tell you this: My life is a gong show 90% of the time. I will share as much of the funny or interesting stuff as possible. And while there will be some political rants or days when I'm not hilarious; my biggest, most immediate goal is to just get started....because if I don't get started, it won't take any direction. So here we go....

As for the name... "I Mean...By Sara Marie"..... I can say this: The other day my boyfriend pointed out that he hates when people start a sentence with "I mean..." When, before anything else, they launch into a thought with "I mean blah blah blah"...It makes no sense without something before the phrase. "I mean" is used for clarification, or an elaboration of a previous statement, not as an introduction. After emphatically agreeing with my guy, I noticed that I actually start thoughts with this phrase a lot. Embarrassing, I know. It's as though I live my life walking around assuming everyone wants to know what I mean, or even cares what I mean. Or maybe I just enjoy being grammatically incorrect-- yah right, that drives me crazy. Anyway, regardless of why I use the phrase, I've decided to try and curb my usage and replace it with a post here.... on this blog, where the rules are all mine, and obviously anything I post is in fact, what I mean.

Go ahead and mark it as a favorite, or list me in your google alerts because my posts will be a mix of the ridiculous situations I find myself in when working in the world of politics, stories from hanging out with my array of interesting (and sometimes outrageous) friends and family, and suggestions from the other blogs I read daily....So enjoy..... But refrain from commenting because, honestly, I don't let anything go... I will argue back and probably end up posting about your stupid comments to, if nothing else, keep you from doing so again....unless, of course, it's praise for my great work. In that case, go right ahead. Thanks.

xoxo

Sara Marie
